In this assignment, we were formed separately in groups with the junior and then, we were given a building randomly in certain area in Malaysia. I was assigned to work on buildings, the shop houses which were located in Penang, Lorong Ikan. We were required to have 10 sketches of the area for our individual assignment. For group work, jobs and duties were assigned respectively to each of us before going. At Penang, we were required to go to the site by foot which took us about 20 minutes. The 3 shop houses were under renovation and they would soon become hotels. The head of the constructor allowed us to get into the building after he had a word with our lecturer, Ar. Zahari. The shop houses consisted of 3 buildings attached together. They looked similar from the external and they were so much details inside them. We took a walk around the building to have a better understanding of it and soon, we began to start our work on the very next day. The AutoCad team will be responsible for most of the measurement part while the report team will handle the information of the areas like the history and culture of the shop houses. It was quite challenging for us to measure the buildings as they were slanted and there were quite a lot of detail parts to be taken care of. Luckily, we were able to get some information from the locals there, as well as the owner who used to stay in the shop houses. Photos and videos were taken there as they were needed for the video and report presentations. Everyone was doing their very best to get what they can from there, as we just had 5 days in Penang. Penang is famous with its historical buildings, as well as the transportation which is the trishaw. We went around penang to receive as much information as possible and it was considered as a unforgettable experience as well. After the trip, we went back and this was when the true nightmares started. Everyone was busy handling the reports, drawings and models. There were lots of mistakes and wrongs during the process, but we managed to correct it together. Among the jobs (reports, drawings and models), drawings and model can be considered as difficult tasks as both of them were connected to each other, which means that if any of them was not done, the other would never be completed as well. After having few sleepless nights, everyone was done. Although we might not be the best, we had tried our best anyway and we were quite satisfied with the results. I would like to thank all of the team mates for their hard works and patiences thought the project. It had been an honour to work with them.
